BADAK
Free iriver movie converter
(X20, E10,
Clix, U10, iMP, PMP and H300 series)
By RobbieK
Background:
BADAK is an extremely easy to use and reliable program for coverting movies for your iriver.
Since iriver did not develop this software, they do
not offer any support for it, nor do they promote it, even though it is far
superior than their inhouse
programs. Just follow the instructions to install, and enjoy!
Badak supports English, Korean and now Chinese (see below).
|
- Download BADAK, the presets, and the codecs here (BADAK, Presets, Codecs).
- The presets included are for iMP, PMP, U10
and H300 series.
- BADAK is a frontend of MENCODER and was
not developed by iriver.
- BADAK supports MPEG, MPEG 4, WMV codecs
but certain codecs such as RM or QuickTime have
to be downloaded from the Codecs link.
- Subtitles are automatically inserted if a subtitle file is located
in the same location and file name with the movie file, (see below).
- Process : Install BADAK -> Install Preset file -> Run BADAK ->
Select a Preset -> Convert a movie file.

location where you are installing the software to install preset files later.

2. Unzip the preset file under the "PRESET"
folder where you installed the BADAK software.

shown below.

Double click the icon to run BADAK. Below is the main
menu.
It consisits of 3 parts; File list, Processing and
Setting.

1) File list
This part is to add or remove movie files for convertion.
You can add more than one file at a time.
2) Processing
This sections displays the convertion
process. You can start, stop and check the process.
3) Setting
You can configurate options such as the destination
folder for converted files, encoding setttings and
output file name.
4. Add one or more movie files by pressing the "Add
file" button.

5. Click the "Open Preset" button in the Setting part to open a preset. You

A higher quality option will result in a larger file,
whilst a lower quality option will reduce the size of the ouput
file. The image below highlights the selection for a U10 conversion.

6. Click the START button to start converting. You should
see the convertion process as below.

NB: You can insert subtitles by checking "Mix
